“From strange whispering voices, combined with dasaksara, I created modre poems. Dasaksara consists of ten sacred letters used to worship God. These ten letters are ong, sang, bang, tang, ang, ing, nang, mang, sing, wang, yang. In truth, there are specific rules for reciting dasaksara because they are sacred letters — but not for me. I utter them however I wish; whichever of these letters I speak, whatever sound emerges, that is the voice of God. So I worship God by reciting these syllables. That is how I transform the sacred Balinese script modre into poetry that is uniquely my own.”
